Children’s Ministry
It has been said that “children are the future of the church.” But, at St. Mary’s, we believe that children have an important place in the life of the church now and at every age. That’s why we consider it a priority to offer activities and programs that will foster children and families in their lives in Christ and build up faithful disciples.
ST. MARY’S NURSERY
On Sundays mornings and for special services throughout the year, St. Mary’s offers nursery care for families with young children (newborn to four years old). Our nursery is always staffed by two paid nursery workers. Parents may drop off their children in the nursery before worship begins. The nursery is located next to the Parish Hall.
CHILDREN’S CHAPEL
During the school year (August through May), Children’s Chapel is offered for children in grades Kindergarten through Fifth Grade. Our youngest students (K-1st Grade) attend Children’s Chapel in the Godly Play classroom, and our older children (3rd-5th Grade) attend Children’s Chapel in the middle classroom. Both classrooms are located in the new addition to the church, across from the Parish Office. Children’s Chapel takes place during the first part of the Sunday morning service. The children leave with their teacher shortly after the service begins for an age-appropriate Bible lesson and return to the church during the passing of the Peace (before Communion).
VACATION BIBLE CAMP
Vacation Bible Camp is our version of “VBS” at St. Mary’s. It takes place each summer (usually the middle of June) and is open to all children in the community (grades K-5). We sing songs, learn stories from the Bible, play games, make fun arts and crafts, and so much more! Be on the lookout each summer on our parish calendar and social media pages for more information about how to register your child for Vacation Bible Camp.
BLESSING OF THE BACKPACKS
Each year, on the Sunday before school starts back (usually the beginning of August), we have a special “Blessing of the Backpacks” during worship. We invite all students and teachers to bring their bags and backpacks to church for a special blessing for the start of a new school year.
TRUNK OR TREAT
Trunk or Treat is held on the Sunday afternoon before Halloween from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm. Members of the parish dress up, decorate their cars and trunks, and pass out candy for children in the community. All are welcome to join us for Trunk or Treat. For more information, be on the lookout on our social media pages.
